Question 1: How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?   My product used various conventions of a murder mystery. From the appropriate sound effects to the suspense built up by the end of the film. Conventions of a mystery film may include eerie costumes, dimmer lighting, spooky music, and suspense throughout the film. My product did use spooky music and sound e ffects, and it did have lots of suspense by the end of the product. However, unlike a typical mystery film, where suspense would start building up from the beginning, my product had a light mood for most of the first half, and then suddenly, suspense built up quite quickly.  Hey guys! It's Lindsay again, and today I am here with a Movie Conventions blog about the film: Where the Crawdads Sing. What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? This movie includes lots of suspense throughout the film, which is definitely one of the elements my group mates and I will be implementing into our film. It also has many moments of plot twists, uncertainty, and confusion, where the audience is left to wonder who the killer is. This move also does not give clear explanations for the events occurring throughout the film. For example, the killer's motive and strategy for killing the victim is never revealed clearly to the audience. This leaves them to wonder and also leaves them with uncertainty and suspense. CAMS: In mystery films, various camera angles are used to create suspense and engage the audience. Low-angle shots can intensify the characters. High-angle shots create a sense of vulnerability. Dutch angles, where the camera is tilted, can add uniqueness. Close-ups are used to express emotions and tension. Wide shots help to set the scene, and tracking shots can build anticipation. Combining these angles create the overall mysterious atmosphere. CLAMPS: Lighting plays a big role in creating a mysterious atmosphere in films. Low lighting like shadows is often used to show details and enhance suspense. Adding dramatic contrast between light and dark areas. It’s also used to highlight the silhouettes characters, adding a feeling of secrecy.
